Carmelo Bongiorno

Carmelo Bongiorno (born in 1960 ) is an Italian photographer.
==Biography==
He began photographing in 1978 and in 1983 he founded the group of artistic experimentation "phase",along with his friend and colleague Carmelo Nicosia.
In 1989 he won the prestigious award in Arles European Kodak Award for Photography, and in 1992 published his first monograph Private Places (Ed. Museo Ken Damy, Brescia).
In 1993 he was one of six photographers in the world called for Les Routes du Lait, work exhibited at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and published by Editions Contrejour Paris.
In 1997 he published The island intimate (Ed. SEI, Torino), volume and traveling exhibition that summarizes seven years of research (1988/1995) with a preface of his friend Franco Battiato for which produces images and video of her albums.
In 1998 he was selected to represent Italy at the Mois de la Photo à Paris with his staff, and in 1999 he received the Barbarino as the author of the most important of the "new" Italian Photography.
In 2000 he was invited to the Piccolo Teatro of Milan on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary for "Teatro Vision" along with Wim Wenders, Ugo Mulas and Duane Michals.
In 2001 he published Flashes (Federico Motta Ed. Milano), a traveling exhibition which will run the metropolitan Europe.
In 2002, the Galerie du Chateau d'Eau in Toulouse exposes and public Carmelo Bongiorno photographies, as well as the Milan Triennale with Invisible Cities, large contemporary art exhibition dedicated to Calvin.
In 2003 he represented Italy at the International Festival Terre d'Images in Biarritz.
In 2005 it was called by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice for The Masters of Photography, in 2006 commissioned public realizes ParolaVisioni and exhibits at the Gallery of Modern Art The Chimneys of Catania.
In 2007 he created the images for the volume and the campaign of cultural promotion of the 60th Anniversary commissioned by the Sicilian Regional Assembly.
In 2008 he recorded "Notes of Light" exhibition and book (Ed. Ultreya, Milan) on the world of classical music and opera, as an engagement from the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania.〔http://www.agnelliniartemoderna.it/it/artista.php?id=47〕
